WELCOME TO COMMVAULT® EDUCATION CONNECTIONs

Welcome to the latest edition of our Education Connections newsletter. As always, we're covering topics that underscore our commitment to educational quality and innovation. In this edition, we highlight the launch of the Commvault Education Services YouTube Channel, new course offerings, and a look at how some of our customers are benefiting from their Commvault® training. New course offerings include the V11 New Features eLearning and Virtual Instructor-Led Course for Service Pack 5, along with courses for Virtualization, a V11 Master Class, and a new free Quick Start offering. Commvault Quick Start is a blended learning experience that includes a video presentation, product demonstrations, and step-by-step procedures that help administrators expand their knowledge and skill set.
We are also highlighting some recent student feedback that illustrates how they’re using what they’ve learned in our courses to increase their productivity and improve the Return on Investment (ROI) of their Commvault platform.
In our "Meet the Instructor" segment, we are featuring Eric Mars, who teaches in our Americas region.
Also, we are pleased to announce a “Save the Date” for our 2017 Commvault GO™ client conference, which will be held November 6-8, at the Gaylord National Harbor, near Washington, DC. We will again be offering technical training sessions both before and after the conference, on November 5 and 6, and November 9.
And finally, we’ve launched our interactive course catalog, where you can always find the most current, region-specific information about our course offerings.

COMMVAULT LAUNCHES V11 NEW FEATURES ELEARNING AND VIRTUAL INSTRUCTOR-LED COURSE FOR SERVICE PACK 5
The V11 New Features Course provides you with a guided introduction to the latest version of Commvault's industry-leading software. This course presents exciting new feature enhancements, such as:
- A new, powerful web-based Admin Console that performs administrative tasks for a broad range of systems, databases, and hypervisors.
- New CommServe® Recovery Assistant tool and database maintenance schedule for the CommServe Server.
- Increased support for the VSA application aware process, such as transaction log backups for the SQL Server and VM file level recovery.

All 8 modules of the newly-released Commvault Quick Start course are available via both Education Advantage and on this new YouTube Channel. COMMVAULT TRAINING ENHANCES PRODUCTIVITY
Fully understanding the capabilities of the Commvault platform increases both productivity and ROI
At Commvault, we work diligently to provide our students with high-value training that can help them get the most out of their Commvault environments. We’re continually refining the course materials, in order to better meet the evolving needs of our users. We also value your feedback. It helps us to know what we're doing right with our training programs, and lets us know how we can make them even more useful to our students. It also tells us if the training is having a positive impact on the way you work.
Case in point: in a recent survey conducted for Commvault by customer evidence specialists TechValidate, we asked students to tell us how much of an impact their Commvault training was having on their productivity. Nearly two thirds of those surveyed indicated that they had seen productivity gains of 30% or more! As in previous surveys, high marks were also given to increases in functionality, efficiency, and performance, as well as a significant reduction in Support incidents. This underscores what we've known all along: Better-trained users get significantly more value out of their Commvault investment, while at the same time reducing their need for Support calls!

COMMVAULT INTRODUCES NEW COURSE OFFERINGS
Helping you take fullest advantage of the new features in V11
The Commvault Education Services team is pleased to announce the introduction of three new offerings, designed to help you get the most out of your Commvault environment:
- Commvault Quick Start — FREE Course — Discover how easy it is to use Commvault® software with Commvault Quick Start, a blended learning experience that includes a video presentation, instructor-led demonstrations, and step-by-step procedures that help users expand their knowledge and skill set. Quick Start is FREE, and each lesson builds on previous topics, so users gain a strong understanding of the CommCell® environment, policy configuration, software installation, and the daily administration tasks that let them protect and monitor their environment. - Virtualization (V11) — This self-paced eLearning course has students research in-depth concepts, design considerations, and various strategies for protecting and configuring both VMware® and Microsoft® virtual environments, This course is comprised of two parts: The first provides administrators with practical instruction for using Commvault's Virtual Server Agent (VSA), IntelliSnap® Technology, and traditional agents to provide a comprehensive protection strategy. The second part delves into VSA configuration for both VMware and Hyper-V environments. It provides administrators with practical instruction on configuring instances, backup sets, and subclients, as well as proper procedures for backing up and recovering entire virtual machines, volumes, individual files, and folders. - Commvault Master Class (V11)
— The Commvault Master Class and Certification is designed to educate and validate the deepest level of knowledge attainable for Commvault administrators and engineers. Knowledge gained can be applied in advanced enterprise architecture, complex troubleshooting, and more comprehensive management of day-to-day activities. Training emphasis is placed on a concentrated understanding of advanced Commvault features including virtualization, deduplication, snapshot management, backup/archiving, retention, application protection, and troubleshooting. Master certification assesses knowledge acquired from the Master class, validates the mastery of Commvault technologies, and allows those few who complete the program to stand apart from others in the industry.  Eric MarS
Instructor, Americas
Eric Mars joined the Commvault team as an instructor in July of 2010, and delivers in-person Instructor-Led Training, as well as Virtual Instructor-Led Training throughout North America. Eric is a Microsoft Certified Trainer and educator, with more than 19 years of experience in training and course development.
Prior to joining Commvault, Eric served as an instructor for a division of Graceland University of Independence, Missouri, presenting to thousands of students worldwide.
Before entering the technology field, Eric was a disc jockey and onsite event announcer for WJRZ Radio in Toms River, New Jersey.
Eric lives in Dallas, TX, where he and his wife Kimberly are raising their 8 children. Eric enjoys coaching his sons in little league baseball and spending time with his daughters. Eric also enjoys attending art auctions and is an avid art collector.
