The VOICE OF THE LEARNER
Commvault Training Increases Productivity
How we keep our course material fresh and relevant

At Commvault, we have a strong commitment to providing quality training, with a focus on helping our students to improve their ability to operate, manage, and optimize their Commvault environments.

A 2011 study by IDC determined that "well-trained teams derive more benefit from their technology investments than undertrained teams. When teams are sufficiently trained, their functional performance can be dramatically improved."

Our own research bears this out. To meet the needs of a wildly disparate customer base across multiple geographies, we offer flexible course format options — including Instructor-led classroom, virtual instructor-led classroom, eLearning, and onsite to meet our students' time and budget requirements. Through an initial online assessment exam, customers can evaluate how their own role-based knowledge compares to that of other IT Professionals, and receive a recommended curriculum path based on that assessment.

“I took the Commvault Master Class in November 2014, and it was hands-down, one of the best training classes I've ever experienced, across the board of all systems/software training I've attended.”

Feedback is vitally important to us, in order to ensure that our courses are meeting the needs of students, and to see if as a result of their training students are able to notice improvements in the day-to-day operation of their Commvault environments. In order to do this, we have arranged to have customer evidence specialists TechValidate conduct ongoing, targeted customer research for us, in order to get an unbiased view of our training and education programs from those customers who've actually participated in them. We look to get objective feedback on both the training itself as well as their own specific outcomes resulting from the training.

Our most recent survey was conducted in June 2015, and included 250 respondents, all of them Commvault customers who’d taken our courses from January through March of 2015. The questions were varied, and touched on course content, the effectiveness of the software, and how well the students were able to apply what they had learned to their own real-world situations.

For example, a full 87% of of those surveyed agreed with the statement
"As a result of my Commvault training, I have been able to use Simpana capabilities that I had not considered using before!"

Other questions are more open-ended, and solicit general observations about their pre- and post-training experience, as a way of gauging the effectiveness and usefulness of the training. For example, an engineer of a small business telecommunications services company had this to say: "I've been working with [Commvault] for 8 years now and the way it continue to stay ahead of the times and current with the different vendors have been AMAZING!!!!"

These surveys continue to be a very useful mechanism that enable us to know what's working and what's not. The surveys themselves are conducted online, and are relatively quick and painless. So if you happen to receive one in your email inbox, we highly encourage you to participate. It's an easy way to to ensure that your voice is heard. And we are listening!
